Inventories

Over the past 25 years, the Linn County Historic Preservation Commission has utilized CLG-grant funds to inventory Linn County properties for their historic integrity. These inventories determine whether a property is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.

Comprehensive Planning Project

In 1991, the Linn County Historic Preservation Commission (LCHPC) initiated a multi-year preservation planning project, a prioritized approach to the protection and preservation of cultural resources in Linn County. The Comprehensive Planning Project was completed in 1992 and has guided all future investigations of the archaeological and architectural historic resources located within the County. The ultimate research goal of the preservation planning project is to better understand the County's historical development and the identification of significant properties representative of, and associated with, this development. The goal of the LCHPC is to use the survey data in order to better manage, protect and preserve the significant cultural resources of Linn County.
