The Linn County Sheriff's Office currently has three dual purpose narcotics detection K-9s. In addition to being trained to sniff out illegal narcotics, they are also trained in tracking, building/area search, apprehension, and handler protection. Most of our patrol cars are manned by only one deputy. However, having a K-9 assigned gives us instant backup for serious crimes that are in progress.
