Domestic Abuse Meeting

If you are the victim of domestic violence, the law enforcement officer scheduled a meeting for you at the Linn County Attorney’s Office.

  • Your meeting date can be found on your paperwork given to you by the officer.
  • Meetings are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m.
  • Meetings are with either an Attorney or a Victim/Witness Coordinator.
  • The defendant (abuser) will NOT be present for this meeting.
  • You may reschedule this meeting by calling the Linn County Attorney’s Office.
  • The purpose of this meeting is to make sure we have all necessary information and it is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
  • If you do not attend this meeting it does not mean that the case is automatically dismissed.
  • If you do not attend this meeting it does not mean that the No Contact Order is automatically cancelled.

No Contact Orders

After the defendant is arrested, the Judge will issue a No Contact Order so the defendant cannot have contact with you.

If there has been a violation of the No Contact Order, contact law enforcement immediately to report the contact.
