Linn County has compiled a list of resources available to the community. This page will be updated as additional information becomes available. If you are a member of an organization offering community resources to those affected by COVID-19, please email County staff to request to be added to the resource page.
Information Hotline
A public hotline has been established for Iowans with questions about COVID-19. The line is available 24/7 by calling 2-1-1 or 1-800-244-7431.

Multi-Lingual Information Hotline
A multi-lingual public hotline has been established for Iowans with questions about COVID-19. The line is available Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. by calling 1-877-558-2609. Select a language from the menu (PDF) to be connected to an operator and interpreter or to leave a message. Native language voicemail is available 24/7 for calls placed after business hours.
This hotline was launched by Refugee Alliance of Central Iowa and Lutheran Services in Iowa in partnership with 2-1-1, the Iowa Department of Public Health, and Polk County Health Department.
Linn Area Partners Active in Disaster (LAP-AID)
LAP-AID is a coalition of more than 30 local health and human service providers, government agencies, funding sources, and faith-based organizations seeking to build a better-prepared and more resilient Linn County by reducing duplicated services and inefficiencies during disasters.

Funeral Assistance
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought overwhelming grief to many families. Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, FEMA will provide financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020.
Legal Assistance
Iowa Legal Aid is a resource for Iowans who need legal assistance related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit the Iowa Legal Aid website or call the hotline 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday at 1-800-332-0419. The COVID-19 Legal Advice Hotline is a project of Iowa Legal Aid, The Iowa State Bar Association, and the Polk County Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project.
This Hotline is a free service available to Iowans who are experiencing legal issues due to the public health crisis such as eviction, denial of unemployment benefits, employment issues, or identity theft. Callers will leave a message and Iowa Legal Aid staff will call them back. Those who meet Iowa Legal Aid’s eligibility guidelines will be connected with an Iowa Legal Aid attorney; those who are outside of Iowa Legal Aid’s eligibility guidelines will receive a call back from a volunteer attorney through The Iowa State Bar Association or the Polk County Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project.
