Sheriff's Office
It is the mission of the Linn County Sheriff’s Office to provide professional law enforcement services in an impartial and unbiased manner.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is the second largest sheriff’s office in Iowa. We are a full service law enforcement agency that operates seven areas of public service, including the Patrol, Criminal (Detective), Communications, General Services, Finance, Civil, and Correctional Center Divisions.
We are accepting Deputy Sheriff applications online from Friday, March 3 to Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 5:00 PM. Applicants must also attend the Linn County Civil Service Commission physical fitness and written exam at 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Coe College-Clark Racquet Center, 400 College Drive NE, Cedar Rapids, IA.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office has a lateral transfer program for certified law enforcement peace officers. This program includes a $10,000 structured incentive and a starting salary based on years of service as a certified peace officer. If you are interested in taking advantage of our lateral transfer program, please contact Colonel Doug Riniker at 319-892-6102 or via email.
