It is the mission of the Linn County Sheriff’s Office to protect the lives and property of the residents of this county by providing the highest quality and most professional law enforcement, correctional, and support services attainable in a cost-effective manner.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is the second largest sheriff’s office in Iowa. We are a full service law enforcement agency that operates seven areas of public service, including the Patrol, Criminal (Detective), Communications, General Services, Finance, Civil, and Correctional Center Divisions.

Now Hiring-Deputy Sheriff-Make a Difference

We are accepting Deputy Sheriff applications online from Friday, June 24 to Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 5:00 PM.  Applicants must also attend the Linn County Civil Service Commission physical fitness and written exam at 8:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Xavier High School, 6300 42nd Street NE, Cedar Rapids, IA.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office has a lateral transfer program for certified law enforcement peace officers.
