Field Trips
Field Trip to Wickiup Hill Learning Center
These outdoor programs address the ever growing need to introduce and engage today's youth in the natural world. Pick from eight program themes that best fits your curriculum or classroom studies. Each theme supports Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core.
Outdoor Academy
This week long outdoor learning experience is designed for 4th and 5th grade students. Each day of the Outdoor Academy has a specific goal that is directly tied to curricular expectations. The whole experience serves to help students gain a greater appreciation for the natural world and explore their connection with it.
Traveling Naturalist
At a time when field trips away from school may just not be possible or practical, our naturalists can come to you. Let us help you utilize your green space as an outdoor classroom! We can build and customize programs to fit your needs or enrich your current curriculum. Topics may include habitats, animal adaptations or animal group identifications. Naturalist programs focus on life and earth sciences and include Iowa history, outdoor skills and current issues.
Virtual Classroom
If we are not able to gather together in groups, we can use technology to help introduce topics or enhance a program during your virtual classroom times. Naturalist are standing by and can Zoom in or Google Hangout with you and your students to offer real world accounts and observations no matter if they are in the classroom or at home.
