Award-Winning Communications

Linn County has received multiple national awards for its communication efforts from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA) and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA)

The Savvy Awards competition honors outstanding achievements in local government communications and recognizes skilled and effective city and county professionals who have creatively planned and carried out successful innovations in communications and marketing. 3CMA Savvy Award entries are judged by local government professionals and individuals from professional, consulting, and academic communities across the country.


Award of Excellence: Best Website 2022

Linn County received the Award of Excellence from 3CMA for its 2022 redesign of LinnCountyIowa.gov.  


Savvy Award (first place): Best Website 2018

Linn County received the first place Savvy Award in 2018 for its website redesign that used resident user testing to improve the online experience (population category 85,000 and up).


Silver Circle Award: Printed Publications – Annual Report 

Linn County received the Silver Circle Award in 2019 for its FY18 Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) (PDF). These annual reports keep residents informed about how tax dollars are managed and spent and highlights the County’s significant accomplishments and initiatives of the past year (population category 100,000 and up).


Silver Circle Award: Marketing and Tools – Branding/New Logo

Linn County received the Silver Circle Award for its Logo Redesign & Rebranding campaign that was launched in 2018 (population category 91,000 and up). Prior to the new brand, more than 15 logos/images were used to identify Linn County and its services, which was visually inconsistent and confusing. The new brand creates consistency and unity across County departments and services to better serve customers.


Award of Excellence: Graphic Design

Linn County received the Award of Excellence for its Logo Redesign & Rebranding. The new Linn County logo was designed by Amperage Marketing and Fundraising during Linn County’s Logo Redesign Challenge in 2018 (population category 76,000 and up).


Award of Excellence: Most Creative Activity with Least Dollars Spent 

Linn County received the Award of Excellence for its Logo Redesign & Rebranding campaign in 2018 (population category 151,000 and up). Prior to the new brand, more than 15 logos/images were used to identify Linn County and its services, which was visually inconsistent and confusing. The new brand creates consistency and unity across County departments and services to better serve customers.


Government Finance Officers Association

The GFOA established the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Awards Program (PAFR) in 1991 to encourage and assist state and local governments to take information from their annual comprehensive financial report to create high quality popular annual financial reports specifically designed to be readily accessible and easily understandable to the general public and others without a background in public finance and then to recognize individual governments that are successful in achieving that goal.


Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded Linn County the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for 22 consecutive years.
