The Linn County Food Systems Council (LCFSC) was created on March 28, 2012 by resolution of the Board of Supervisors. The Planning & Development Department, in partnership with Iowa Valley Resource Conservation and Development, provides financial and staff support to the Council.
The Food Systems Council advises on policies and programs with the objective of making the Linn County food system economically, environmentally and socially sustainable. Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors to serve a four-year term(s). Members typically have expertise in various segments of the food system including banking, real estate, distribution, education, health, law, marketing, processing, procurement, production or waste management.
The council meets the fourth Thursday of the month from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Harris Public Health Building, 1020 6th St. S.E., Cedar Rapids. For information on attending the meetings, email Mike Tertinger.
