Early & Satellite Voting


You may cast an absentee ballot in person at 935 2nd Street SW in Cedar Rapids. 

Satellite locations are available if they are petitioned for. See information below for requesting a satellite.

You must vote your absentee ballot at the early voting or satellite location. You cannot take the ballot home with you.

An accessible ballot marking device is available for voters who may need assistance.

Ballots will be available no earlier than 20 days before an election.

  • Lindale Mall- 4444 1st Ave NE, Cedar Rapids
    • October 18 – November 5
      • Tuesday through Saturday: 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
      • Sundays:  12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
      • Mondays:  Closed
  • Cedar Rapids Downtown Library- 450 5th Ave SE, Cedar Rapids
    • Saturday, November 04:  10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Cedar Rapids LADD Library- 3750 Williams Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids
    • Friday, October 27:  10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    • Saturday, October 28:  10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    • Sunday, October 29:   1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Voter ID

Voters participating in early voting or satellite voting must provide an ID. These are the valid forms of ID:

  • Iowa Voter Identification Card (needs to be signed)
  • Iowa Driver's License
  • Iowa Non-Operator ID
  • U.S. Military ID or Veteran ID
  • U.S. Passport
  • Tribal ID Card/Document

A voter without one of the above forms of ID may have an their identity verified by another registered voter in the precinct. The voter may also use Election Day Registration documents.

Requesting a Satellite Location.

A satellite location may be requested by filing a petition with the Election Services' Office.

The petition must contain signatures of at least 100 eligible electors living in the jurisdiction.

The petition must be filed with the county auditor conducting the election by the filing deadlines listed in Section §53.11, which varies by election type.
