Of the nearly 30 areas managed by Linn County Conservation, 94% are categorized as undeveloped and natural. Linn County Conservation strives to protect natural resources and habitats throughout Linn County. Unlike a park or a trail, a natural area or "preserve" has physical and cultural characteristics through natural growth and is often maintained in its natural condition with few amenities. A preserve may additionally contain a rare plant, animal, or natural feature that may require special protections. Development is kept at a minimum to keep the area in its intended state. Linn County Conservation also has designated "historic" features often maintained for educational and historical purposes.
