The Morgan Creek Trail is in the engineering and planning stages, with the exception of the trail within Morgan Creek Park which is completed. It will extend from 42nd Street near Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids through the Rock Island Preserve to the Cedar River. This project will connect to the City of Cedar Rapids trail system.
The trail is slated to follow the Highway 100 right-of-way connecting Northeast Cedar Rapids to Northwest Cedar Rapids. The trail will provide a connection with a large population base - Xavier High School will eventually extend to Morgan Creek Park. At Morgan Creek Park, the Morgan Creek Trail connects to the Cherokee Trail and continue to Cherry Hill Park and into Cedar Rapids.
