[ARCHIVED] Caution Urged at Rural Intersections and Railroad Crossings Due to Tall Crops

Rural intersection with corn crops

The Linn County Secondary Road Department reminds drivers to use extra caution on rural roads now that corn crops have grown to heights that can reduce visibility and obstruct views. This is especially important at intersections, drives, near active farm operations and railroad crossings.

Drivers should obey stop signs and use caution when entering intersections. Drivers should treat uncontrolled intersections as if a stop or yield sign is posted. Motorists should not enter an intersection or cross railroad tracks until they are certain no vehicles are approaching, and then proceed with caution. Take the extra time to look for vehicles and trains.
