[ARCHIVED] Jindrich Named Linn County Finance Director

The Linn County Board of Supervisors has named Dawn Jindrich to be the next Linn County Finance Director. The 8-member interview committee unanimously recommended Jindrich for the role. Jindrich is currently the Linn County Budget Director, a position she has held since 1994. Jindrich is succeeding Finance Director Steve Tucker who is retiring at the end of May after 36 years with Linn County.

As Finance Director, Jindrich will be responsible for directing all activities relating to financial management of the County including financial reporting and preparation of the County’s annual budget. She will also set the strategic direction for the Finance and Budget Department and operationalize those goals in alignment with the County’s Strategic Plan and Customer-Centered Culture.

Stacey Walker, Linn County Supervisor and member of the interview committee said, “Directing Linn County’s Finance and Budget Department to ensure strong financial management is a critical role. As Budget Director for 25 years, Dawn demonstrated her financial expertise and leadership ability by presiding over our budgeting process from start to finish, working with dozens of department heads to craft one of the largest government budgets in the state. Her work has been consistently recognized as best-in-class by the Government Finance Officers Association and she has been tapped to lead seminars for other county financial professionals around the state. Her work has helped Linn County maintain the highest possible bond rating from Moody’s Investors Service, placing this government in a strong and sustainable financial position. I have full confidence in Dawn’s leadership ability and believe she is the right person to lead this department.”

Jindrich joined the Linn County staff as Budget Director in 1994.During her 25-year career with the Linn County Finance and Budget Department, Jindrich has developed Linn County’s annual budget and award-winning budget document. She has also assisted with the administrative responsibilities of the department along with operational activities, including providing financial analysis and advising the Board of Supervisors on financial decisions.

Jindrich is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Certified Public Accountant Certificate (CPA).
