The Linn County Secondary Road Department is holding a public forum to discuss the rock road system in Linn County.
The forum will be held Tuesday, July 2 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Linn County Farm Bureau Financial Services building, 1323 Boyson Road, Hiawatha. The forum will include a presentation from Secondary Road staff at 4:45 p.m. followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion.
At the forum, residents can learn about the work the Secondary Road Department is doing on the County’s rock road system and ways to maximize road service life.
“The past 12 months have been a record-setting year in terms of rain and snowfall and that has placed a lot of strain on rock roads,” Linn County Supervisor Brent Oleson said. “This is an opportunity to have a conversation with residents about the unique challenges of rock roads and the steps Linn County has taken and will take to continually improve them. Residents can ask questions, provide feedback, and speak directly with Road Department staff. Our goal is to answer questions and explore ways to make our roads as sustainable as possible and improve the gravel road system.”
