The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada has awarded Linn County a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the county’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2013. This is the 25th consecutive year Linn County has received this recognition.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
Linn County’s CAFR was judged by a panel of reviewers who determined it met the high standards of the program including demonstrating a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate Linn County’s financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR. An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement was given to Linn County Finance Director Steve Tucker, CPA, to recognize his primary role in preparing the award-winning annual report.
Linn County also received an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting from GFOA for the 16th consecutive year. This prestigious national award recognizes state and local governments that successfully extract information from their comprehensive annual financial report to produce a high quality popular annual financial report specifically designed to be readily accessible and easily understandable to the general public.
To receive an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting, Linn County’s Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) met high standards in creativity, understandability, distribution and reader appeal. Linn County’s 8-page PAFR is printed and distributed to the community each December for the fiscal year ended June 30.
