The Linn County Board of Supervisors held two public hearings on the use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and off-road vehicles on county roads in unincorporated Linn County. As a result of public input, the Board has postponed the first reading of the proposed ordinance to allow time to amend the proposed ordinance to address concerns and get answers to questions that arose. A new date for the first reading has not been set.

The Linn County Board of Supervisors will hold two public hearings on the use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and off-road vehicles on county roads in unincorporated Linn County. The first will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the Falcon Civic Center, 137 N. 4th Street in Central City and the second will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St. SW in Cedar Rapids.
This is an opportunity for the public to share their input on the use of ATVs and off-road vehicles on secondary roads in unincorporated Linn County. Anyone who is unable to attend the meeting but would like to provide input may contact the Linn County Board of Supervisors by email at [email protected] or by phone at 319-892-5000.
“It is important to be innovative in how we promote our rural communities for economic and cultural development. I am a huge proponent of our parks, trails, and natural resources being a draw for people, which benefits host communities and those nearby those attractions. Allowing ATV use on limited county roads, with access to our smaller communities, will be one more outdoor recreational activity to help our rural communities thrive,” says Supervisor Brent Oleson.
