[ARCHIVED] LIFTS to Deliver Groceries within Linn County during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Linn County LIFTS announced today the start of a new service to deliver groceries and prescriptions within Linn County in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rides and deliveries will be available during normal LIFTS operating hours, 8 am – 5 pm Monday through Saturday.

LIFTS will give priority to seniors, people with disabilities, and people considered at-risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus who have no other source of transportation.

People in need of rides to essential services, or people who have a grocery or pharmacy order that they are not able to pick up may contact LIFTS at 319-892-5170 to request a ride or delivery. LIFTS requests that people call at least one day in advance of the needed ride or delivery. Order placement and payment is the responsibility of the person making the request.

“We want to make sure people are getting the vital supplies and services they need and not going out more than they have to,” said LIFTS director Tom Hardecopf. “This is just one more way we can continue to provide support for county residents and utilize our staff and resources in this critical time to help slow the spread of COVID-19. While we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to accommodate every request, we’ll do our best to help.”

Linn County continues to work with other area partners to find additional ways to assist persons in need during this time of crisis.
