[ARCHIVED] Linn County Celebrates National Police Week May 10-16

Linn County Sheriff's Office Star

Linn County is celebrating May 10-16, 2020 as National Police Week. This week, celebrated annually, honors the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers across the nation.

Additionally, each year, May 15th is designated as national Peace Officers Memorial Day, in honor of all fallen law enforcement officers and their families. Flags at all Linn County government buildings and across the nation will be flown at half-staff that day.

The COVID-19 virus has only further highlighted the importance of the work done by our law enforcement officers as they work to safeguard our citizens. Even during this pandemic, our deputy sheriffs and police officers are still on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week serving Linn County.

The Linn County Board of Supervisors has recognized National Police Week and honored Linn County’s law enforcement professionals by releasing an official proclamation (PDF).

“I truly appreciate the dedication that is provided by our hardworking deputies on a daily basis”, said Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner. “Please join me in publicly saluting the men and women of law enforcement as they tirelessly serve Linn County and other communities across the nation.”
