[ARCHIVED] Supervisor Barron appointed to NACo committees

In September 2013, Linn County Supervisor Lu Barron was appointed to leadership positions for the National Association of Counties (NACo), including the NACo Board of Directors, President of the NACo Aging Programs, and Vice Chair of the International Economic Development Task Force. Members of NACo committees play a critical role in advancing national legislative and policy priorities important to the nation’s counties. The appointments are for one year.

The NACo Board of Directors is the primary governing body of the National Association of Counties and formulates policy recommendations and legislative priorities on behalf of counties. The International Economic Development Task Force facilitates the exchange of information, ideas and resources and county-level engagement in international economic development activities. The NACo Aging Programs represents the needs of seniors.

“I am honored to serve on these committees and bring local perspective to national issues,” said Barron. “It’s important for counties to have a collective voice on the national level, especially with a federal administration engaged in developing policy on a number of issues facing counties.”
