[ARCHIVED] Linn County Conservation Board to hold VIRTUAL Open House regarding Pinicon Ridge Park dam

Pinicon Ridge Park Dam

The Linn County Conservation Board is now holding a virtual open house to share preliminary project concepts of a future modification project for the Pinicon Ridge Park Dam. The dam, located on the Wapsipinicon River just east of Highway 13 in Central City, has surpassed its expected 50-year life.

A public open house scheduled for March of 2020 was cancelled due to COVID-19. Due to the ongoing pandemic, Linn County Conservation is providing details online about these concepts, as well as additional information from staff and professionals in the field to address the priorities for this modification. Videos and graphics have been produced not only to detail the concepts, but to address areas of concern and interest. They include:

  • Safety
  • Aquatic life
  • Water quality of the Wapsipinicon River
  • Pinicon Ridge Park impacts
  • Expanded recreational opportunities
  • Economic potential

The Linn County Conservation Board, with all these goals in mind, has been studying the issue for several years. A similar input session was held in 2017 where the public provided their outlook on the dam and its future for the region.

The Pinicon Ridge Park Dam Virtual Open House can be attended by visiting LinnCounty.org/PiniconRidgeDam . The site will remain active until July 24. Website visitors are also encouraged to take a public input survey available for additional information for the Conservation Board to review.
