[ARCHIVED] Linn County Wins Awards for Excellence in Financial Reporting

For the 24th consecutive year, Linn County has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) from the Government Finance Officers’ Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Linn County’s CAFR was judged by a panel of reviewers who determined it met the high standards of the program including demonstrating a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate Linn County’s financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR. Steve Tucker, CPA, Linn County Finance Director, is responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR.

Linn County also received an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting from GFOA for the 15th consecutive year. This prestigious national award recognizes state and local governments that successfully extract information from their comprehensive annual financial report to produce a high quality popular annual financial report specifically designed to be readily accessible and easily understandable to the general public.

To receive an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting, Linn County’s Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) met high standards in creativity, understandability, distribution and reader appeal. Linn County’s 8-page PAFR is printed and distributed to the community each December for the fiscal year ended June 30.

Linn County’s report was prepared by Steve Tucker, CPA, finance director; Dawn Jindrich, CPA, budget director; and Joi Bergman, communications director.

Copies of Linn County’s CAFR and PAFR are available in the Linn County Finance and Budget Office at the Jean Oxley Linn County Public Service Center or online at www.linncounty.org/finance.
