[ARCHIVED] Presidential General Election Deadlines

MAKE A PLAN TO VOTE!


The November 3 Presidential General Election is only two weeks away. The Linn County Auditor’s Office reminds voters of the following deadlines for this upcoming election. 

Absentee Ballots

  • Requests for absentee ballots must be received in the Linn County Auditor’s Office by 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 24. The office will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and is located at 935 2nd St. SW in Cedar Rapids. 
  • Voted absentee ballots must be postmarked by Monday, November 2, 2020, the day before Election Day, to count in the election.
  • Voted absentee ballots can also be placed in the Auditor’s Office white drop box until 9 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. The white drop box is located in the Public Service Center parking lot at 935 2nd St. SW, Cedar Rapids.
  • Track your absentee ballot.

Pre-Registration

  • Voters are encouraged to pre-register for the general election. 
  • The deadline is Saturday, October 24 at 5 p.m. The Auditor's Office will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and is located at 935 2nd St. SW in Cedar Rapids. 
  • Pre-registration allows for verification of a voter’s current residence and a quicker voting experience on Election Day.
  • Verify your registration.
  • To register to vote or update an address, voters with a driver’s license or non-operator ID may use the Iowa DOT website.
  • Voters may also call 319-892-5300, option 1 to request a paper form.

Notice of Updated Polling Places

  • Due to COVID-19 and the derecho, many polling places have changed.
  • The Auditor’s Office mailed a notice of updated polling places to all registered households.
  • Verify your polling place (enter your home address).

Early, In-Person Voting Options

  • Voters in Linn County also have the option for in-person, early voting.
  • Voters must present an ID when voting in-person. 
  • After pre-registration, new voters or voters with a change of address will also need to provide evidence of residency. 
  • Curbside voting is available at each location listed below.
  • The following are hours and locations of early, in-person voting:
