CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – The winners of the Corridor Worksite Wellness awards were announced today at the Corridor Business Journal’s annual HealthCare Summit. A total of 38 worksites participated in this year’s awards ceremony, including 14 worksites that did not participate last year. Participating worksites were scored on the extent to which their efforts aligned with best practices in worksite wellness through an assessment. The worksites were compared to other worksites of a similar size, based on the company’s total number of employees.

Six different awards were presented. Five awards are for best overall score in a certain size category, defined by number of employees. Best Overall Score is determined by comparing the assessment score from this year to last year’s score. The winners are listed below:

ESP International – Best Overall Score, 100-249 EmployeesMercy Physician Services – Best Overall Score, 250-750 Employees
UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital – Best Overall Score, >750 Employees

The winners have demonstrated a commitment to employee health and wellbeing, and the efforts of all nominees were celebrated at the awards today. Last year’s winners were Marion Hy-Vee, City of Cedar Rapids Central Fire Station, Lil’ Drug Store, Midwest Metal Products, City of Cedar Rapids City Services Center, and Mercy Medical Center.

The assessment process overseen by the Corridor Worksite Wellness Committee, which includes leaders from a number of organizations in Linn and Johnson Counties. Linn County Public Health and Johnson County Public Health administer the assessments. The Committee manages a LinkedIn group for worksites in Linn and Johnson Counties. The LinkedIn group is called the Corridor Worksite Wellness Network. Worksites are encouraged to join.

ABOUT THE CORRIDOR WORKSITE WELLNESS COMMITTEE – The assessment process is overseen by the Corridor Worksite Wellness Committee, which includes leaders from a number of organizations in Linn and Johnson Counties. The committee consists of members from the Area Substance Abuse Council, CarePro Health Services, Health Solutions, Johnson County Public Health, Linn County Board of Health, Linn County Public Health, MercyCare Business Health Solutions, and the University of Iowa Healthier Workforce Center for Excellence. The committee meets regularly to plan the Corridor Worksite Wellness Awards and oversee the assessment process. The committee partners with the Corridor Business Journal.
