[ARCHIVED] Linn County Treasurer’s Office Closing Afternoon Services Due to COVID-19 Related Absences

The Linn County Treasurer’s Office announces it will be closed in the afternoons until further notice due to the number of staff absent with to COVID-19 related absences. During the afternoon closures, Treasurer’s Office staff will be processing transactions received through the mail, drop box, and email and responding to the heavy volume of phone calls. 

The office will continue to book appointments Monday through Friday from 7:45-11 a.m. and will honor appointments already made as long as staffing resources allow.

Appointments can be made online for the following services:

  • License plate exchange
  • Obtain license plates/registration due to impound
  • Pay Non-Sufficient Funds/Revoke
  • Property Tax Redemption of Taxes Sold at Tax Sale
  • Title transfer (title transfers can also be completed remotely – see LinnCounty.org/Treasurer for instructions)

Appointments cannot be made for the following services, which must be completed online, by mail, or by drop box (visit LinnCounty.org/Treasurer for details):

A white drop box is available in the parking lot of the Public Service Center (935 2nd Ave. SW) for anyone who needs to drop off payments, vehicle registration renewals, or other paperwork that would normally be dropped off in person.

Most Linn County offices are open by appointment only. Contact information for all County departments is available at LinnCounty.org. Linn County’s top priority remains the health and safety of employees and the public. Linn County is committed to doing everything it can to protect the health and safety of the public and employees while ensuring minimal disruption to public services during this global pandemic. 

Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19

Linn County officials urge all residents to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a face covering, maintaining a physical distance of 6 feet between themselves and others, staying home when ill, and washing hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Doing so will help to reduce the spread of the virus, protect our community, and help prevent overwhelming our healthcare system.
