COVID-19 Phase 1B Vaccine Information Update
Linn County is currently in the first phase of vaccine distribution, or Phase 1A.
On January 11, the Iowa Infectious Disease Advisory Council made recommendations and Iowa Department of Public Health issued a vaccine shortage order, which included prioritizing Iowans age 75 and older, and other Iowans who are vulnerable to exposure to COVID-19 or high-risk for illness as the result of a COVID-19 infection. On January 21, Governor Kim Reynolds announced that Iowans age 65 years and over will also be included in phase 1B to further expand eligibility of older adults.
Vaccine remains in short supply. This means not everyone in Phase 1B will be able to get vaccine right away. To help balance vaccine supply with the Phase 1B demands, the Iowa Department of Public Health has implemented a tiered prioritization, outlined below. Learn more.
Linn County Public Health continues to work with local partners to finalize plans to begin Phase 1B vaccinations no later than February 1. Additional details on how county residents eligible for Phase 1B can get vaccinated will be shared as soon as it is available.
