[ARCHIVED] Linn County announces new process for economic development funding applications

The Linn County Board of Supervisors is implementing a new process for organizations seeking economic development funding from the county in fiscal year 2016. The new process creates a more formalized application and reporting process to better measure the impact of funding.

Linn County will hold two informational sessions for interested applicants. The sessions will be used to present the new application process and the new final reporting requirement. Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged, but not required, to attend one of the sessions. The informational sessions will be held on the following dates at the Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St. SW in Cedar Rapids:

Session 1: Thursday, April 16 at 9 a.m.
Session 2: Tuesday, April 21 at 10 a.m.

“In recent years, Linn County has seen an increase in requests for economic development funding. This the new process will enhance the accountability of successful applicants,” Linda Langston, chairwoman of the Linn County Board of Supervisors said. “It will also allow us to better promote successful projects.”

The Board of Supervisors uses the economic development fund to help spur growth of the local tax base, encourage entrepreneurship or otherwise enhance the quality of life throughout Linn County.

Applications are due Monday, May 18, 2015. Application information can be found on the Linn County website
