[ARCHIVED] Update: Troy Mills Road and Coggon Road construction to begin May 11

A paving project on Troy Mills Road and Coggon Road is scheduled to begin Monday, May 11. The project is expected to take 6-7 weeks for completion. The roadways will be closed to all traffic during concrete paving.

As per the schedule submitted on 4/28/15, the plan is to pave Coggon Road (west to east) on May 13 & May 14. According to this plan, Coggon Road will be open to thru traffic at some point on Saturday, May 16. The contractor will not start paving Troy Mills Road until the concrete on Coggon Road has matured.

The projects consist of placing concrete over the existing surface, asphalt paving and granular shoulders. The contractor, Horsfield Construction, Inc. of Epworth, IA, anticipates a completion date of June 12, 2015.

Construction on Troy Mills Road includes asphalt paving from the Wapsi bridge to just south of Osceola Street and concrete paving from just south of Osceola Street north to the existing concrete. A portion of Linn-Buchanan Road at the intersection with Troy Mills Road will be paved as well. The Coggon Road project includes concrete paving from Troy Mills Road to just west of Waltonian Road.

Local residents who live within the project limits will maintain access for a majority of the project. As a reminder, when the concrete paving operation passes by your entrance you will not have vehicle access for approximately 48 hours. Access will be restored once the concrete reaches maturity. Local traffic will be allowed on the concrete as soon as maturity is reached, typically two days after pavement is placed.
