[ARCHIVED] Recorded Grow Solar Education Program Now Available in ASL and Spanish

Grow Solar Logo

Grow Solar Linn + Johnson Counties, a program that provides solar education and an opportunity to purchase affordable solar for homes and businesses, is expanding its outreach. Recorded “Solar Power Hours” featuring English and Spanish captions, as well as American Sign Language, are now available online.

The one-hour Solar Power Hour gives people throughout Linn and Johnson counties a chance to learn how solar works, about the volume purchasing program, and how it can help both property owners and communities as a whole be sustainable.

Everyone is welcome to access the videos. Live Solar Power Hours will also continue to be offered in spoken English throughout August 2021. To sign up for those Power Hours or to sign up for program alerts, visit linnjohnson.growsolar.org. Program information is also posted at https://www.facebook.com/GrowSolarLinnJohnsonCounties

To date more than 200 people have attended an online Solar Power Hour, and the first few contracts have been signed. The program begins with discounted pricing for property owners, and the more people who sign on, the lower the price goes.

Primary partners for the Grow Solar program include Linn County, Johnson County, City of Cedar Rapids, the City of Iowa City, Linn County Public Health, Johnson County Conservation, Green Iowa AmeriCorps--Cedar Rapids/Matthew 25, Green Iowa AmeriCorps--Iowa City, Johnson Clean Energy District, Linn Clean Energy District, and The Nature Conservancy in Iowa. The installer for the program is Eagle Point Solar.

Grow Solar Linn + Johnson Counties is administered by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) at no cost to the counties or other program partners.
