The North Linn Community School District has called a special election for September 14, 2021. The North Linn Community School District has residents in four counties. According to Iowa law, Buchanan and Delaware County voters will vote in their respective counties. Linn and Benton County voters will vote in Linn County. Early, in-person absentee voting begins Wednesday, August 25 for Linn and Benton County voters at the Linn County Auditor’s Office, located at 935 2nd St. SW in Cedar Rapids. Voting is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday through Monday, September 13 (with the exception of Labor Day, Monday, September 6).

Voting by Mail

Voters can request to have an absentee ballot mailed to them. Voters can print a request form from https://linncounty-ia.gov/vote or they can call the Auditor’s Office at 319-892-5300 to request a form. Requests for mailed absentee ballots are due in the Auditor’s Office by Monday, August 30 at 5 p.m.

Ballots can be returned by mail or by personal delivery and must be received by the Linn County Auditor’s Office on or before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14. Absentee voters can also deliver their ballot to the drop box located in front of the Linn County Public Service Center at 935 2nd St. SW. The drop box is available 24 hours a day and is under video surveillance. If using the drop box, voters must deposit their absentee ballot in the drop box by 8 p.m. on September 14.

Election Day Vote Centers

Election Day is Tuesday, September 14, 2021. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters should note that their polling place depends on the county they live in.  

  • Linn and Benton County: North Linn High School, 3033 Lynx Dr., Troy Mills
  • Buchanan County: Rowley Community Center, 109 Ely St., Rowley
  • Delaware County: Ryan City Hall, 405 Franklin Street, Ryan
