[ARCHIVED] “Click It or Ticket” seat belt enforcement mobilization results

May 19 through May 31, 2015, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office joined other law enforcement officers throughout Iowa and across the country in the Click It or Ticket campaign designed to promote the use of seat belts. This traffic enforcement effort put additional deputies on the streets both day and night to watch for unbelted motorists and traffic violators, as well as drivers operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs. During this two-week traffic enforcement project, Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies spent over 28 additional GTSB grant-funded hours patrolling Linn County’s roadways in hopes of not only "cracking down" on violators, but also in making travel safer for others.

Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies (working both grant and non-grant funded patrol shifts) made 27 arrests and issued 183 citations and 266 warnings during this event. Specific event statistics are as follows:

128 - Speeding Warnings
7 - Driver’s License Violation Citations
15 - Registration Violation Citations

22 - No Proof of Insurance Citations
27 - No Proof of Insurance Warnings
31 - Misc. Traffic Violation Citations
46 - Misc. Traffic Violation Warnings
35 - Misc. Equipment Violation Warnings
1 - Open Container Violation
45 - Motorist Assists
12 - Arrest Warrants Served
