The Linn County Secondary Road Department has released its maintenance plan for 2022 and the five-year construction plan for fiscal years 2023-2027. The plans outline the department’s focus on repairing and rebuilding bridges, maintaining the condition of the paved road network, improving the condition of the County’s 765+ miles of rock roads, performing preventative maintenance, and how projects are prioritized. Secondary Road Department staff present a five-year plan to the Board of Supervisors annually, per Iowa Code.
Highlights from the presentation include:
- Repairing or replacing 24 Linn County bridges
- Paving 27.5 miles of secondary roads
- Grading 31.1 miles of secondary roads
- Adding two roundabouts to Covington Road in coordination with the City of Cedar Rapids
