CEDAR RAPIDS – Riverview Center and Linn County Public Health will be cosponsoring rapid HIV testing from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on Friday, February 7, 2014 in honor of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The date is to recognize and raise awareness about the ways in which the African American or Black community is disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS, to commemorate those we have lost to AIDS, and to support those who are currently living with HIV/AIDS. Testing will take place in the Linn County Public Health Clinic, located at 501 13th Street NW, Cedar Rapids, and will be free for people within high-risk groups. This includes but is not limited to African Americans, intravenous drug users, and men who have sex with men. People not within high-risk groups will pay a $20 fee. Appointments are encouraged, but not required. If you would like to make an appointment please contact the Linn County Public Health Clinic at (319) 892-6093.
