[ARCHIVED] Linn County Attorney’s Office Files Criminal Charges in Connection with Taboo Night Club Shooting

The Linn County Attorney’s Office, in cooperation with the Cedar Rapids Police Department, has filed criminal charges against Timothy Ladell Rush, 32, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for his role and as a result of his alleged actions in a deadly mass shooting on April 10, 2022, at the Taboo night club, 415 3rd St. SE, Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa.

The Linn County Attorney’s Office received an immediate update on the status of the investigation on the morning of Sunday, April 10, 2022, and has been consulting with investigators during the early stages of the investigation to ascertain the appropriate criminal charges for those involved.

The Linn County Attorney’s Office has authorized and now filed the following criminal charges against Timothy Ladell Rush: Murder in the Second Degree, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Reckless Use of a Firearm Resulting in Serious Injury, and Possession of a Firearm as a Felon (separate complaint). The Linn County Attorney’s Office believes there may be other victims that will be identified as a result of the investigation and there could be further charges in this case.  The Linn County Attorney’s Office encourages all persons who have information to offer about the events of April 10, 2022, to come forward and to cooperate with the Cedar Rapids Police Department.

Our hearts are with the loved ones of the deceased victims, and our solidarity is with the survivors. We are committed to justice for the alleged victims and to ensuring a fair trial for the accused. It should be noted that a criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty at trial.
