[ARCHIVED] Supervisor Rogers Delivers State of the County Address

Ben Rogers

Linn County Supervisor Chair Ben Rogers presented Linn County’s State of the County address on Friday, April 29, 2022, to a crowd of 200 people during National County Government Month at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center.

Rogers discussed Linn County’s challenges and accomplishments in navigating complex issues such as public health, including the COVID-19 pandemic, health equity, and youth gun violence; mental health and social services; homelessness; renewable solar energy; sustainability; working collaboratively to build more robust and resilient systems; and what we all can learn from children.

“Some of the themes that I hope emerge from this speech are the resiliency of our community strengthened by working collaboratively with public and private institutions and the idea of post-traumatic growth, which is defined as a positive psychological change experienced as a result of a struggle with highly challenging life circumstances. We are all complicated people navigating a complex world,” Rogers said in his remarks. “Our humanity toward others matters, especially for those with whom we disagree.”
