[ARCHIVED] Linn County Board of Supervisors awards $200,000 in economic development funding

The Linn County Board of Supervisors yesterday (July 6) awarded $200,000 in economic development funding to 15 Linn County organizations. This year’s application process included an updated application and reporting process to better measure the impact of the funding and enhance the accountability of successful applicants.

The Linn County Economic Development Fund was established following the 2008 flood to foster and support economic growth and enhance quality of life throughout Linn County.

Organizations that will receive funding for fiscal year 2016 include:


Alburnett Lions Club $10,000 for track / safe pathway funding
Ascent (Helping women-owned businesses) $10,000 for support for women's start-up in Linn County through UNI
Blue Zones & Healthways $10,000 for Blue Zones initiatives (year 3 of 3-year funding)
Center Point Library $15,000 (year 3 of 3-year funding)
Central City Main Street Main Street program $7,500
City of Lisbon $16,000 for playground / splash pad
Czech Village / NewBo Main Streets $12,500 for Main Street program
Habitat for Humanity $25,000 for a house build
Linn County Fair $28,750 for water system
Marion Amphitheatre $18,750 (year 4 of 4-year funding)
Mount Vernon Main Street $2,500 for Main Street program
NTS - Neighborhood Transportation Service $15,000 for transportation services
Trees Forever $5,000 for Woodland Legacy Workshop
United Way 2-1-1 $10,000 for VITA - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Uptown Marion $14,000 for Main Street program

Total: $200,000
