The Linn County Board of Supervisors is seeking Linn County residents interested in volunteering to serve on the Linn County Veteran Affairs Commission. The vacant seat is for an unexpired term that ends June 30, 2023. The commission establishes the eligibility for assistance, claims and denials, in addition to providing advisement.
Commission members must be an honorably discharged veteran. The five-member commission must be represented by all branches of service, to the greatest extent possible, and be gender-balanced. The commission is currently comprised of veterans from the Army, Navy, and Air Force and is currently gendered-balanced. All branches of service will be considered for appointment to the commission and the nominee may be of either gender.
Serving on a volunteer commission is an excellent opportunity for Linn County residents to get involved with their local County government.
Linn County residents interested in being considered for an appointment to fill the vacancy on the Linn County Veteran Affairs Commission are asked to submit an online application through Linn County’s website or call the Board of Supervisors Office at 319-892-5000 to request a paper copy of the application by November 1, 2022, at 5 p.m. The Veteran Affairs Commission meets monthly. Members may serve two consecutive three-year terms.
