The Linn County Treasurer’s Office will be closed the morning of Wednesday, August 26 for an all-staff training on implementing new process improvements in the Treasurer’s Office. The Treasurer’s Office will open at 10 a.m. Customers who call the Treasurer’s Office during the closure will be able to leave a message. Staff will return calls when the office reopens.
Normal business hours for the Treasurer’s Office are 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. The phone number for the Property Tax division is (319) 892-5550. The phone number for the Motor Vehicle division is (319) 892-5500.

The Treasurer’s Office recently completed an assessment with McGladrey LLP to review staffing levels, transaction processes and technology maximization to identify ways to improve citizen customer satisfaction and office effectiveness and efficiency. The Treasurer’s Office is now working to implement the assessment’s recommendations, including cross-training employees, implementing a call center environment phone system, and promoting online payment options for property taxes and vehicle registration renewals to reduce the number of people waiting in line at the Treasurer’s Office. The Wednesday morning closure is part of the training to implement new processes identified.
The Treasurer’s Office served nearly 109,000 customers in person last year and received 74,000 phone calls.
