John Harris

Today, Linn County Board of Supervisors member Ben Rogers issued the following statement on the passing of former Linn County Supervisor John Harris:

"It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of John Harris, who died July 18, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. On behalf of the entire Board of Supervisors, both past and present, I send our deepest condolences to John’s family and all who loved him. We have lost a great man who was cherished, loved, and respected by many. John was a dedicated public servant, a man of great faith, and a wonderful human being. I am honored to have served alongside John on the Board of Supervisors, and I cherish those days. John will be greatly missed by his family, his peers, and all of us here at Linn County."

John Harris was elected to his first term as a member of the Linn County Board of Supervisors in November 2010. He served on the Linn County Board of Supervisors from January 2011 through December 2018. While on the Board of Supervisors, John’s priorities included improving the secondary road system, encouraging business growth in Linn County, and keeping taxes low. John will be remembered most for his kindness and for his servant leadership style of compassion, honesty, integrity, and trust as he encouraged all Linn County employees to live by, as he did, the Linn County core values.
