Candidate Filing Period for City and School Elections

The combined city/school election will be held Nov. 7, 2023. Polls will be open from 7 a.m.–8 p.m.  

The Linn County Auditor’s Office encourages members of the community to consider becoming a candidate for city and school board offices.

Candidates may file their papers from Monday, Aug. 28 through Thursday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. School board candidate paperwork must be filed with the appropriate school secretary. City candidate paperwork must be filed with the Linn County Auditor’s Office, located at 935 2nd St. SW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  

Candidates must file both a Petition and an Affidavit of Candidacy

For more information on school board seats up for election, please contact the school secretary for the school district in question.

For more information on city offices up for election, please contact the city clerk of the city in question.
