[ARCHIVED] Linn County Food Systems Council Awards $115,000 in Grants to Increase Food Resiliency and Access

Linn County Food Systems Council Food, Access, Resiliency, and Equity Grant Program

The Linn County Food Systems Council has awarded $115,000 in grants to 17 local organizations through its Food Access, Resiliency, and Equity (FARE) Grant Program. The FARE Grant Program is a Linn County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funded project administered by the Linn County Food Systems Council to replace lost public sector revenue in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Linn County Board of Supervisors allocated $250,000 in ARPA funding to support local food initiatives to increase food security. 

The Food Systems Council established the FARE grant program to support food-related businesses and nonprofit organizations in Linn County that continue to play a key role in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic; promote public health and wellness; increase resiliency in the Linn County food system and address systemic food system challenges.

“These impactful projects add critical infrastructure and equipment to build resiliency and security in our local food system, support the food sector's COVID-19 recovery, and improve food access for underserved communities in Linn County,” said Linn Count Food Systems Council Chair Emmaly Renshaw. “We are proud to support these innovative projects that spur economic development, provide stability to under-resourced communities improve sustainable practices.”
