February is Black History Month

Two supervisors posing with the proclamation

The Linn County Board of Supervisors proclaimed February Black History Month. Observation of Black History Month promotes awareness, appreciation, and understanding and commemorates the vital role of African Americans in shaping American history. African Americans are responsible for countless achievements in the economy, government, industry, public affairs, science, society, and more.

Residents are urged to recognize this month by becoming aware of the history, culture, legacy, struggles, and achievements of people of African descent.
