The Cedar Rapids Community School District celebrated the volunteer contributions of nearly 100 businesses and organizations with a “Galaxy of Stars” recognition on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015.
Options of Linn County was among the organizations recognized for volunteer contributions for two projects.
Kenwood Elementary School:
With organization from Christ Episcopal Church, volunteers from Options of Linn County deliver bags of food for students in need each week. They also count box tops, Campbell Soup labels and Hy-Vee receipts.
Taylor Elementary School:
Options of Linn County volunteers visit Taylor each week to collect and organize Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education.
The goal of each collaboration is to directly and positively strengthen the learning environment for students. The School and Community Partnership Program is part of the District’s Volunteer Services Program and is coordinated through the Community Relations Department.
“The School and Community Partnership Program invites businesses and organizations to enrich schools by donating time, expertise, materials and funds,” noted Marcia Hughes, Community Relations Supervisor. “We are grateful for the many and varied contributions they make to support our students and staff. Our annual recognition event is an opportunity to spotlight the generous volunteer partner organizations that go above and beyond on behalf of our schools.”
