The College Community School District and the Springville Community School District each have requested special elections for February 2, 2016. College Community is seeking approval to issue $49.5 million in general obligation bonds and will elect a school board member due to a position that is currently filled by appointment. Springville Community is seeking approval to issue $4.7 million in general obligation bonds.
Ballot Availability
College CSD: Due to the candidate filing period that ends January 8, the start of absentee voting for College Community is not slated to begin until January 14. A separate announcement will be made once ballots are available.
Springville CSD: Ballots are available now for the Springville Community School District.
Below are the three ways for voters of both school districts to participate in this election.
• Vote Absentee By Mail
Request forms may be obtained from www.LinnCountyElections.org or by calling Election Services at 319-892-5300, ext. 1
Request forms can be mailed to 935 2nd St SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404-2100.
All requests must be received by Friday, January 29 at 5:00 PM.
Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by Monday, February 1, 2016.
• Vote Absentee In-Person
Office hours for absentee voting are Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Election Services is located at the Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St. SW, Cedar Rapids.
In-person voting at satellite locations will be announced at a later date.
• Vote at your polling place on Election Day - Tuesday, February 2, 2016
