[ARCHIVED] Linn County receives financial reporting award for 27th consecutive year

CAFR Award certificate

Linn County was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for the County’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2015. This is the 27th consecutive year Linn County has received this recognition.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement was given to Linn County Finance Director Steve Tucker, CPA, to recognize his primary role in preparing the award-winning annual report.

“This award recognizes the professionalism, dedication and excellent work performed by our finance and budget staff and demonstrates our commitment to maintaining Linn County’s financial health,” said Ben Rogers, chair of the Linn County Board of Supervisors.

The CAFR review panel includes GFOA staff and reviewers with expertise in public sector financial reporting. The review panel determined Linn County’s CAFR met the high standards of the program including demonstrating the spirit of transparency and full disclosure to clearly communicate Linn County’s financial story.

Copies of Linn County’s CAFR are available in the Linn County Finance and Budget Office at the Jean Oxley Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St. SW, Cedar Rapids or on Linn County’s website at www.linncounty.org/finance.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C.
