[ARCHIVED] Washington High School Baseball Veterans Appreciation Night

Friends of Warrior Baseball is hosting a Veterans Appreciation Night July 5. Varsity Double Header vs Waterloo East starting at 5 p.m.

Food and clothing donations will be accepted for Linn County Veteran Affairs and monetary donations will be accepted for Puppy Jake Foundation ( This organization selects and trains service dogs for wounded warriors.

The veterans appreciation portion of the evening will be held just prior to the start of the second game (approximately 7 p.m.). All veterans in attendance will be formally acknowledged to start the evening. Color guard from Hiawatha American Legion will be present with a guest soloist to sing the national anthem. Varsity players will have a veteran (family/friend) accompany them onto the field for the national anthem. A veteran will throw out the first pitch. There will also be an enlistment ceremony.

A rep from the Linn County Veteran Affairs office will be available.

This event is free to veterans
$5.00 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for students
The admission fee is separate from monetary donations.
