Friends of Warrior Baseball is hosting a Veterans Appreciation Night July 5. Varsity Double Header vs Waterloo East starting at 5 p.m.
Food and clothing donations will be accepted for Linn County Veteran Affairs and monetary donations will be accepted for Puppy Jake Foundation (puppyjakefoundation.org). This organization selects and trains service dogs for wounded warriors.
The veterans appreciation portion of the evening will be held just prior to the start of the second game (approximately 7 p.m.). All veterans in attendance will be formally acknowledged to start the evening. Color guard from Hiawatha American Legion will be present with a guest soloist to sing the national anthem. Varsity players will have a veteran (family/friend) accompany them onto the field for the national anthem. A veteran will throw out the first pitch. There will also be an enlistment ceremony.
A rep from the Linn County Veteran Affairs office will be available.
This event is free to veterans
$5.00 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for students
The admission fee is separate from monetary donations.
