[ARCHIVED] Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan

The East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG) is facilitating the development of a
comprehensive multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan for Linn County. Alicia Presto is the
lead staff person from ECICOG working on this project, developing Linn County’s goals and
strategies for hazard mitigation and protection of critical facilities.

The multi-jurisdictional hazard planning initiative, funded through a grant program from the Iowa
Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division, seeks to create a unified hazard mitigation plan for all of the schools, municipalities, and unincorporated areas of Linn County. Currently, the county and municipalities have their own hazard mitigation plans. Updating and unifying the plans willenable organizations within the county to continue to be eligible to apply for funding through Homeland Security’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

A draft of the county plan should be ready in late spring and will be made available for public
comment.
