The section of County Home Road between Alburnett Road and Lucore Road will be closed for several hours on Sunday, April 13 for the Marion Rotary Marathon for Shoes. The closure will begin at approximately 6:30 a.m. and end at approximately 1:30 p.m. for the safety of the runners. Motorists will need to take an alternate route during the road closure.
Cody Crawford, race director and Marion City Council member estimates the section of County Home Road between 10th St. and Lucore Road may reopen within a couple of hours after the race begins at 7 a.m. because that section is early in the race, and the course then turns south on Lucore before picking up again at Alburnett Road and County Home Road at mile 22 of the 26.2 mile race.
Sunday’s marathon benefits Shoes for Kids, a program of the Marion East-Cedar Rapids Rotary Club and supports other Rotary-sponsored events.
