The Linn County Board of Supervisors discussed a draft minimum wage ordinance during their Aug. 29 meeting. The draft ordinance proposes raising the current $7.25 minimum wage in Linn County as follows:
$8.25 as of January 1, 2017;
$9.25 as of January 1, 2018; and
$10.25 as of January 1, 2019.
An ordinance requires three readings at public meetings to pass. The Board of Supervisors expects to hold the readings during their meetings on the following dates:
Wednesday August 31 at 10 a.m.
First consideration of Linn County Minimum Wage ordinance
Tuesday September 6 at 9 a.m.
Second consideration of Linn County Minimum Wage ordinance
Monday September 12 at 9 a.m.
Third and final consideration of Linn County Minimum Wage ordinance
Meeting agendas are published 24 hours in advance of the meetings and are available on Linn County’s website www.linncounty.org under “Agendas & Minutes.”
The Linn County Board of Supervisors meetings are held in the Jean Oxley Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St. SW, Cedar Rapids.
If passed, the ordinance will apply within the unincorporated areas of Linn County, Iowa and within any city or portion of any city within Linn County that has not enacted a conflicting ordinance.
