[ARCHIVED] Early Voting Begins Thursday, April 24, 2014 for Partisan Primary Elections

Early voting begins Thursday, April 24, 2014 for the Partisan Primary Elections. Individuals wanting to vote early in-person may do so at the Election Services Department of the Auditor’s Office in the Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St SW in Cedar Rapids. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Individuals wanting to vote early by mail may send in an absentee ballot request form to Linn County Election Services, 935 2nd St SW, Cedar Rapids, 52404. The last day to request a ballot by mail is Friday, May 30, 2014. Note that with the exception of persons with disabilities, state law requires each voter to sign his or her own absentee ballot request form.

During Primary Elections, Democratic and Republican voters select the candidates they want to see move on to the General Election ballot in November. Voters must be registered as a Democrat or a Republican in order to receive that party’s ballot. Voters may declare a party or change their party affiliation when requesting a ballot.
