[ARCHIVED] Whittier Road to be closed May 27

A paving project is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 27 on Whittier Road from just north of County Home Road through Waubeek.

The project consists of both concrete and asphalt paving. Concrete paving limits are from the north edge of Whittier to just south of Wilmot Street (4.5 miles). Asphalt paving limits are from just south of Wilmot Street through Waubeek to North Way (0.5 miles).

Concrete paving is expected to begin Thursday, May 29.

The contractor, Horsfield Construction, Inc. of Epworth, IA anticipates a completion date of July 11. The roadway will be closed to all traffic during paving. Local traffic will be allowed on the concrete as soon as maturity is reached, typically two days after pavement is placed. The contractor will pave concrete from north to south, beginning just south of Wilmot Street. Asphalt will be placed after the concrete is complete.
